I planted many different colors of sunflowers this year, but they turned out mostly yellow, and these two tones of red or maroon/orange colors. They also didn't grow big and tall like they used to.
Deep Red an Yellow Sunflower
They were quite as small as a half-dollar coin, and very few making to bigger sizes! The weather this year had hindered many things in nature, such as less bees, butterflies, and damselflies/dragonflies to my yard.
Gorgeous Heart of a Sunflower
I love the different colors of sunflowers! I saw them in light pink, deep pink, orange, red, maroon, and a mixed of variety colors! I would love to get these for next year.
Icy these are sooo pretty!! Can you harvest the seeds from these also?
ReplyDeleteI feel so much better that I am not the only person suffering from the lack of butterflies, bees, and dragonflies. I thought it was just my yard...even my flowers did not bloom well. Only one of my dahlias did well. And, like you, my sunflowers are what I call mini sunflowers. We had NO tall ones this year at all. This is sad but really interesting. The colors of your little sunflowers are so pretty. I have never seen them this color, but I will look for some for next year. Now, let us keep our fingers crossed we do not get short changed with fall color. That really will be a disappointment. Take care and have a lovely week. genie
ReplyDeletebeautiful shots, as always Icy, you just get those angles that makes each picture mesmerizing!

ReplyDeleteYour sunflowers are so beautiful and so unusual! The last photo is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThey are simply gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMonica.
Gorgeous flowers and I lvoe the colors. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's not the weather. Maybe you just got the dwarf variety seeds by mistake. Some sunflowers can be very small depending on the variety.
