If you cook every day, seven days out of the week, do you some time wonder what to make for dinner? That is the dilemma at our house. We all sing the same song: oh we just had that last week kind of thing.
Grilled Steak
We grilled up some steaks after seasoning them with black pepper, salt, and dried basil on the fly for protein. We cooked and mashed potatoes with a touch of chopped fresh chives to remedy the "what for dinner?"
Fried Okras
Since we had fresh okras in the refrigerator, Thai-Thai, my oldest son who is also the chef of the house, decided to fry them. He cut them into bite sizes, dreaded them in seasoning flour, which consists of salt, black pepper, dried basil, garlic powder, minced onion, and drop the okra pieces in a hot oil.
The fried okras became a hit in our house! We were lucky to have something left on the plate for photos.

YUM! To ALL of it! I lived in the South for a couple years and learned to like Okra. Something I haven't had since moving home. Yes, coming up with something different and interesting can be a challenge. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh my, the plate looks delish! I love fried okra. Seems most folks around here use corn meal in the mixture too...perhaps it's a Texas thing. :-) Thanks so much for sharing...I'm drooling.

ReplyDeleteoh, so yummy! i have never tried fried okra, i always steam them, i should try probably.
ReplyDeleteSo many people I know do not like okra in any fashion but, Georgia Peach that I am, okra is one of my favorite things...and I even like it just braised with onions or in gumbo, slimy and everything.
ReplyDeleteI could so eat at your house. I really love okras, but don't have them often because my kids don't like them.
ReplyDeleteI have the opposite problem in my house. The girls are fussy and won't try anything new. I'm stuck with cooking the same things I know they'll eat.
