Mix Cleaners and Gather Needed Items
Mix a tablespoon of dish soap and a tablespoon of borax in a small bucket. The borax will help the soap remove stubborn stains. Mold, lichen, and rubber from the tires of strollers and bikes can leave stains on the vinyl that are hard to remove. This cleaning mixture, a stiff bristle brush, and a little elbow grease will get the surface clean. Stretch out a small garden hose for rinsing the surface with clean water.
Cover Plants and Vegetation
Dish soap and borax can harm some plants or bushes. Cover everything you want to be protected with a plastic drop cloth. This only takes a few minutes and can be purchased for a couple of dollars. It is a worthwhile investment if you have flowers and plants that are important to you. Stretch some caution tape or find inventive ways to shut off the sidewalk to foot traffic while you complete this job.
Soak and Scrub Stained Areas
Most areas of the vinyl fence will come clean with very little scrubbing. Dust and mold spores rarely give much trouble unless they are allowed to accumulate. Areas with tough stains will have to be soaked and scrubbed intensely. Use a smaller brush to fit in between any fence slats that are positioned close together.
Rinse Using Hose
A standard garden hose will deliver enough clear water to safely remove the cleaner when you are finished. Do the fence in sections so the cleaner is not given the opportunity to dry on the surface of the fence. If this happens, you might have to scrub the area again.
Repeat Cleaning Process
Tougher stains might require more than one scrubbing and rinse. You can repeat these steps until the fence is completely clean. This should only have to be done once or twice a year.

Borax is such a great product. It has a lot of uses. I rather call someone who can clean quickly myself. Thanks for the tip. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.
ReplyDeleteThough late.
I spent most of my time running and daydreaming.
Too occupied with both of these.
